Balochistan Earthquake:
An earthquake of 6.4 scale struck Balochistan province in south-western Pakistan early in the morning of 29 October 2008. District Ziarat and Pishin were among the most hit area where More than 200 people died and thousands of people are still homeless .HOPE provided immediate relief to the affectees . Intially a 20 member HOPE Team went to the earthquake affected areas to provide relief. The team comprised of doctors, paramedics, social workers. Releif goods were provided .The relief goods included food items including flour, rice, sugar, dried milk, tea packets, ghee, daal. In addition, each family was provided winter proof tents and chattai for their residence. Warm clothes in the form of jackets, woolen sweaters, gloves, socks, woolen caps esp. for children. These were provided to each and every member of the family, the size of the family varying from 8-12 members. In addition, blankets and Razai were also provided for at least 6 members per family. The 2nd relief operation was conducted in Dec, whereby another team visited the areas. Relief was provided to the following areas. Wam, Kawa, Torr Shorr, Harnai, Pishin and Khanozai. Relief was provided to 6000 people. In addition, medical camps were held in all areas and 7500 patients were provided medical care esp. women and children.
