MCH Center:
Nearly half of our population comprises of females. Maternal Mortality is extremely high in Pakistan.

This is chiefly due to Pregnancy related complications. The chief reasons being threatened abortion, ante-partum haemhorrhage, pre eclampsia. Mothers generally do not go for ante – natal care and most deliveries are conducted at home. Maternal and Child health Centers have been established both in Manzoor Colony, Mujahid Colony and Bilal Colony Ante – natal care is provided to the mothers. High risk pregnancies are identified. Anaemia is treated, nutrition advise is given and fetal monitoring is done. For this purpose a liason has been established with the TBA's in the area. Simple deliveries are conducted in the MCH Centre. In case of complications, the patient is immediately taken by the MCH Staff to a Tertiary Care Hospital. In case of threatened abortions, D & C is performed under hygienic conditions. Family Planning is an important activity. This includes motivation for FP, provision of FP products as well as insertion of IUCDs. Community - based FP services provide a wide - base for FP services and is very successful. Women feel free to come and discuss FP related issues. There is active support from the male group. Preventive and curative health services are provided to children. This includes free immunization services, not only in the MCH Centres but also outreach mobile teams for immunization. Nutrition advise is given to mothers including promotion of breast feeding as well as weaning diets. Growth monitoring of children is done. ORS packets are provided to children with diarrhoea. In addition, minor ailments like cough, fever etc are treated. Hence, both curative and preventive health services are provided for mothers and children.
